John Bissell letter and deposition, 1833 to Phineas Miner, Litchfield, Conn.

A brief letter to Phineas Miner, Litchfield, Connecticut, on the verso of an unsigned deposition by a Mr. Edwards that John Bissell of New York City tried to obtain. Bissell tried to get Edwards to attest to the differences between imported and American-made handkerchiefs, lace, edging, sewing silk and other ladies' accessories, and swear that American products were inferior in quality if they were made in this country at all.
